Catching Some Breath
0Whew, what a weekend this has been! Give me a moment to catch my breath.
*breath in, breath out, wax… maybe not, bad reference*
Okay, so outside of our little debacle from Friday evening, the weekend actually went pretty well overall for me. We started off by picking up the new World of Warcraft expansion, Mists of Pandaria. The installalation itself, well… that didn’t go well, as a matter of fact I ended up having to uninstall and completly redownload the game from scratch (all 22+ GB of it). Not too thrilling of an experience to say the least.
So after a day’s delay getting tech issues sorted out, I finally get the chance to get back into the world. Believe me, it’s changed dramatically since the last time we saved the world. A renewed conflict between the Alliance and the Horde. Theremore destroyed. A missing prince, and a new world shrouded in mystery and mysticism. Not to mention getting uses to all the major changes since the end of Cataclysm, such as arcane mage now having an actual rotation that’s not “press 1 to win”. This is going to take some getting used to, and fast, cause the rest of the old guild is well ahead of me now.
Also on Saturday was another something I haven’t had the pleasure of doing in a very, very long time (I’m talking a few years at least), and that’s play a game of Dungeons & Dragons. Had a fantastic GM along with a group of rather, shall I say colorful characters. So I started off with one of the pre-gen characters, an orc/demon crossbreed named Kruk Longtooth, big barbarian bad-ass (with a surprising amount of intelligence to go with it). That was the good news, the bad news is during our first battle our DM becomes some sort of crit rolling god. Alas poor Kruk, we hardly knew ye…
So later on, I end up getting a second pre-gen in the persona of one Dirk Kybher, a rock star of a bard in Baldur’s Gate & lead singer for Chocolate Pudding (don’t ask). For a halfling (not to mention a chosen of a certain goddess of beauty), he’s living the life of pleasure, luxury, and loose women. I myself, I just had an absolute blast playing such a colorful, flamboyant character, even if it was only for a short while.
Finishing up Saturday night, we ended an already good day on a great note with the finals of the League of Legends World Championships, pitting Azubu Frost vs. Taipei Assassins. With a packed house at the live venue, and a reported live stream audience of over a million viewers worldwide, this was a event truly worth staying up for. Believe me, the spectacle did not disappoint in the least! Taking it to 4 games, the Assassins despite being an underdog throughout the entire tournament, pulled out a commanding 3-1 victory over Azubu Frost, taking home the world championship title as well as the million dollar first prize. GG TPA!
Overall, it was a weekend well worth the lack of sleep, one I hope will carry over into another great week to come. So let’s get this week going, cause we’ve still got a whole lot going on!
Tales from the Vast
0Well, it’s been a long month coming, but at last I can finally say it’s finished. The first story in what I hope will become a series of such tales of high adventure and grand fantasy in the lands of The Vast. At long last, the story of how our heroes began their epic adventure can finally be told.
As before, any comments or critiques are welcome. I do ask that such be kept in an honest yet professional manner, it’s okay if you think it’s junk, but least be constructive if you’re going to say so, but I’ve got a hunch you’re going to like it. Also, being based out of the D&D world of the Forgotten Realms, we’ll have some more goodies based off the Tales from the Vast soon. =D
Rewriting the Script
0Okay, back in early August of last year, I had started the first chapter in my fan fiction work, “Tales from the Vast”. While it was a good start to the story & a great exercise for story writing, I still felt things were perhaps moving too quickly with the story. So I’m thinking of giving the first chapter a good rewrite, and use it to springboard into a much deeper storyline.
